How Did One Family's Idea Turn Into a Cause?
8 min read От Мама За Мами
I'm Deni, and I'm a MUM too, just like you!
Out of our wish to give our baby the very best, the idea was born for a publishing house and social platform called От Мама За Мами, devoted to parenting - books, discussions and courses to support parents.
For us, the magic of having a little one arrived after a long wait, plenty of disappointments and no shortage of hardship, BUT it was all worth it. As parents-to-be, my partner and I wanted to be as prepared as possible. We searched for information on every question imaginable, courses, articles, training. We joined various online meetups and webinars. We learned a lot, but on plenty of questions we ended up even more confused. The hunt for up-to-date information, modern practices and time-tested methods for handling different parenting situations made us realise how wonderful it would be to create a space dedicated to exactly that.
That's how the idea for a publishing house and social platform called От Мама За Мами took shape in our minds. We wanted to build a platform that would bridge interesting voices knowledgeable about parenting, letting them share their experience first and foremost as people and parents, not just as specialists and authorities.

We pictured a place for parents free of intrusive ads cluttering up the conversation. A social platform with no sponsors, where the audience and readers decide which topics matter, and where every guest in a discussion is open and honest, yet tolerant. A place with genuinely useful, practical guidance, where we talk about things as they really are, not as some textbook says they're supposed to be. We wanted to build a space for friendly conversation with people who have something worth sharing, without labels, dry presentations or endless, monotonous chatter. Just the interesting stuff, the essence of each topic, exactly what our followers actually want to learn.
Our goal is for От Мама За Мами to become the go-to social platform and parenting-book publisher in Bulgaria, helping as many parents as possible feel calm and confident. The truth is that a lot of parenting discussions and worries get filtered mostly through a lens of stress. The more a topic gets talked about without actually building confidence, the more stressed and confused parents become. That's why, as parents and readers ourselves, we felt compelled to dedicate ourselves to sharing the guidance and experience that could genuinely help other parents.
Along the way, our books - "Weaning for a Healthy and Happy Super Baby," "103 Recipes for Super Baby," "Super Baby Food Journal," "Pregnancy Journal - Mom-to-Be," and A Parent's Handbook for Raising a Super Baby from 0 to 12 Months - have helped more than 3,000 parents feel calmer while raising their little one.
As a first-time parent, I was just like you: confused, scared, and lost, reading books and forums full of conflicting information about WHEN, HOW and WITH WHAT to start weaning my baby. If your baby's first encounters with books happen in the early months (months 2 to 6), soft books with big, colourful pictures of animals and everyday objects are a great choice. They're made from safe materials with rounded edges, and some are even designed for little ones to chew on 🙂 They help vary your baby's tummy time, and placing one in front of them encourages them to practise holding their head up. They also help develop focus and eyesight.
I read a ton of information and got completely confused. Because I ended up combination feeding Simona - breastfeeding plus formula top-ups - the weaning process was quite particular in our case. Even pinning down when to start weaning caused a lot of confusion and stress. According to some WHO data, the right time to start weaning is six months at the earliest.
Other opinions suggest that for a baby to adapt well, earlier weaning at 4 months is recommended. My paediatrician, meanwhile, felt the start of month 5 was best. On top of all the confusion that comes with standard weaning advice, I myself have lactose intolerance and dermatitis.
That called for even greater care in choosing what and how to feed her.
I signed up for various online events about weaning, because whenever we introduced new foods, our daughter never seemed to eat enough. As a result, we went through a stretch of long sleepless nights, frequent wake-ups, a hungry baby and a lot of feeling stuck.
Despite hours of phone calls with our paediatrician and consultations with weaning specialists, the conflicting advice led to skin irritation and our daughter's reluctance to accept food. Anything more than a single tablespoon she managed to eat felt like a total victory.
Determined not to still be at square one on solid food by the time she turned two, I knew I had to find an approach that worked specifically for us. I read through various works on the subject and spent a long time underlining and dog-earing pages, taking notes, and pulling excerpts from blogs and interviews.
I started to feel the need to have all the useful information gathered in one place. The only way to follow my baby's cues and successfully introduce solid foods without more unnecessary mistakes was to bring the important information together in one spot. That way, both my husband and I could quickly check whatever we needed, always right at hand.
Everything about how to tell if your baby is ready to start weaning, and what the signs are. How to begin, and with what - fruit juice or purees? Should you go with baby-led weaning (BLW) or parent-led weaning - what's the difference, and how can you combine the two into a simple, workable method? All the useful information, summarised and straight to the point.

Weaning for a Healthy and Happy Super Baby - one mother's notes.
During the weaning process itself, I started collecting and testing different recipes. I gathered the most interesting, easy and useful ones into a separate book, so I'd always have handy information for a varied baby menu. And the best part is that "103 Recipes for Super Baby" includes dishes the whole family can enjoy.
Along our journey, many parents told us they needed help and guidance with the various challenges they faced day to day. The sheer volume of information out there confused and stressed them even more, pushing them to look for a solution that would help them feel calmer and more capable of handling anything parenting threw at them.
My drive to sift through and organise useful practices, if only to become a more confident mum myself, led me to write down every important piece of guidance that experience proved actually worked. Everything the many mums and dads shared in the От Мама За Мами group sparked a natural urge to shape my notes into a proper handbook for parents. I wanted to organise, as simply as possible, the key information for the situations most parents face once the big day arrives.
A huge adventure begins after birth, and parenting brings plenty of uncertainty, fears and hesitation beyond just weaning worries and keeping your baby's menu varied. Suddenly you're consumed by questions like: What do we need to have ready for the baby? How do we prepare our home for a newborn, and what does a typical daily routine look like for an infant? How do we soothe them? What matters most about breastfeeding? How else could we cope with the stress of all these unknowns, if not by getting informed? We can save ourselves a lot of time, gaps and mistakes if we have clear, distilled information on methods that actually work and are easy to put into practice. That's how the idea for the Practical Handbook for Parents was born.
Our goal at От Мама За Мами is to be useful and supportive across the widest possible range of questions, doubts and concerns that most parents wrestle with. We want to do our part to make this adventure called parenting lighter and happier by offering solutions to stressful situations, worries and concerns, so that more mums and dads can feel calm, confident and informed, and more children can grow up in happy families, because we believe that shared experience is the most valuable thing of all!
